Laser Gum Disease Therapy: LANAP™

Severe gum disease, called periodontitis, occurs when the bacterial infection that causes gum disease produces pockets between teeth and gums. LANAP™ stands for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure. Dr. Polansky inserts a soft-tissue laser the thickness of three hairs into the bacteria-filled pocket to eliminate infection and promote reattachment of natural tissue. Two, two-hour sessions are typically all that are needed to renew periodontal wellbeing and alleviate the destructive effects of periodontitis. Most patients go on with their daily business immediately following treatment. No anesthesia is required, and stitches aren’t needed.
